Jesus Chooses Us

Everyone wants to belong to a community, to be surrounded in daily life by others who offer encouragement, guidance and support. In our world, we find that sense of community in our neighborhood or school, in our circle of close friends, in sports teams and work colleagues and in our families. This sense of belonging to a community is also part of the experience of encountering Jesus.

This summer’s theme explores the dynamic that occurs when the focus switches from our own choices about friendship and community to the choice God made long ago. The Bible tells the story of this surprising God, who might have rejected or ignored us human beings, but who instead confirms a relationship with us over and over again. This is the kind of God, who comes to us in Jesus Christ, and who in the words of John’s Gospel, says to those who encounter Jesus, “You did not choose me but I chose you” (John 15:16a).

There will be theme-related Bible studies and activities for upper elementary and junior high groups. Plus we will take full advantage of all the resources that Victory Bible Camp offers us including swimming, horseback riding, campfires, and quiet time to enjoy the beauty of God's creation.
